Hey all! New here and would like to bounce a question off ya:
Networking is the weakest link in my chain of 1337N355.
Say I've got an 8-port switch (the or the for example). I wanna set up a 4-8 PC gaming LAN. I can supply any patches, maps, etc. via disc to the participants (so my Comcast broadband across an N-WAN can excluded from the network, right?). In layman's terms, what else do I need hardware-wise (excluding ethernet cable of course) and how do I set it up? For instance, does it matter which port the "serving" PC connects to? What is the significance of DHCP? Remember, I'm a networking dummy so go slow, please.
Your help and guidance is very much appreciated.
