it won't do anything helpful in time for Gibfest 8, and prolly nothing in the near future, but posting to slashdot would prolly do something... this is prolly a larger problem than just with us, and maybe if a goodly percentage writes blizzard and their parent company, vivendi universal (who also has some interesting ideas about DRM and copy protection... they obviously love us.), some well-written letters and emails (ie, not "LET US PLAY YOUR GAMES FOR FREE AT LANS DOUCHE BAGS!") they might change their position. not likely... But I'm pretty sure that Valve and Sierra are also owned by the same company, and that policy is likely to invade Sierra/Valve at some time - and what would a lanparty be w/o HL/CS?.... Is it just a matter of time before lan parties are underground things where people have a FPS on their iPaq that they play, shooting up druglike, while law enforcement agencies paid by large corporations chase them down and murder them. Hey, that sounds like a good movie, maybe Vivendi can write/produce/market it. *end ramble*[/i]
The knowledge that they fear is a weapon to be held against them.
